Teaser Tuesday #26

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along, just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week it’s my halloween read, modern classic The Woman In Black by Susan Hill. As always, you can click on the cover to go to the Goodreads page for this book.

Fog was outdoors, hanging over the river, creeping in and out of alleyways and passages, swirling thickly between the bare trees of all the parks and gardens of the city, and indoors too, seething through cracks and crannys like sour breath, gaining sly entrance at every opening. It was a yellow fog, a filthy, evil-smelling fog, a fog that chocked and blinded, smeared and stained.

  1. Such a chilling sentence! I haven’t read this book but it feels so perfect for this time of the year.

I really liked this book! I read it last year around this time 🙂

  3. Ooh now that sounds mysterious, and a little scary. A good read for this time of year? Nice!

Splendid writing. I can feel that eerie atmosphere. Is this book connected to the movie?

    • Yes, the book is from the early 80s and I think has been made into a film twice – the most recent one being the Daniel Radcliffe one a few years ago 🙂 I haven’t seen it yet, but hoping to read it soon now I’ve finished the book!

  5. Suitably creepy! Excellent choice for this week!
