Teaser Tuesday #18

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along, just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here’s mine for this week. You can click on the cover to go to the Goodreads page for this book.

They had not seen anyone since encountering the two retreating prisoners, but a rumble of male voices reverberated through the building, echoing from all directions like cries in an overcrowded swimming pool. There was something high-pitched and excited about the noise that raised the hairs on the back of Magnus’s neck and he guessed it would not be long before they met more escapees.

  1. I love the author’s comparison of the sounds to that of people in a swimming pool. Good description. I hope you’re enjoying the story.
My Tuesday post features a literary classic: OF HUMAN BONDAGE.

    • Yeah, it’s the sort of line I didn’t notice the first time when I read it, but when I was picking randomly for my TT it caught my eye. The whole book is really well-written, I’m enjoying it. Thanks for visiting!

Very compelling and kind of scary. Love the cover too. This sounds like something I’d enjoy. Thanks for introducing me.

    • Thanks I’d recommend it. I don’t know why there hasn’t been more hype around this series (it’s part of a trilogy but works perfectly well as stand-alone) as Louise Welsh is a really well-established and I saw a lot of buzz around her debut. Anyway, thanks for visiting! 🙂

  3. I’m intrigued. I can only imagine once some get away, others will try to as well.
